What is the UAE school admission age cut-off for 2026/27?

The cut-off date moves from 31 August to 31 December for the 2026/27 academic year. Your child needs to reach the year group''s minimum age by 31 December of the admission year:

• Pre-KG / FS1 — 3 years
• KG1 / FS2 — 4 years
• KG2 / Year 1 — 5 years
• Grade 1 / Year 2 — 6 years

It applies to new admissions at schools starting in August or September (April-calendar schools keep a 31 March cut-off), and current students keep their year group. Meeting the age doesn''t guarantee a place — schools still assess readiness and availability.
